The School was established after the reorganization of the both School of Philosophy and School of Cultural Studies (1. September 2020) and is now part of the Faculty of Humanities as a standalone unit. Its professors and teachers are involved in the implementation of Undergraduate (four years), Master's (two years) and Doctoral (three years) programmes.
The final level is intended for students who have proven their abilities in research and are ready to apply such skills in developing a PhD thesis. Holding an undergraduate diploma allows one to work in a preferred specialty, while a Master’s deepens and expands a student’s level of education, as well as prepares highly qualified specialists.
The School’s teaching staff has already proven their worth in the training of high class specialists. For instance, it employs well-known scientists and teachers, who actively publish papers in Russia and abroad. They are also internationally recognized and deservedly so.
The School holds a prominent place among Russia’s leading Humanities research centres. Our partners include the Institute of Philosophy, the faculties of Philosophy and Cultural Studies of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Russian State Humanitarian University, St. Petersburg State University, Yekaterinburg University, Novosibirsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, Kaliningrad, Belarus State Universities, other educational and research centres both inside and outside of Russia.
Furthermore, the School has developed a wide network of international contacts. For instance, we work closely with research centres for Philosophy and Cultural Studies in Europe, the USA, and China. This cooperation can take various forms - from student, graduate and teacher training to long-term joint research projects and publications presented at academic conferences.
Undergrads and grad students are actively involved in the academic life of the School and HSE as a whole. For example, they have many great opportunities to publish their research. One can even say that the School could be a great starting point for people interested in finding their own way in the world of philosophical and scientific knowledge, along with the will and desire to pursue this path as far as possible. It offers invaluable opportunities for students to develop a rational and critical attitude towards the world around them, in tandem with the knowledge necessary to succeed today.
