Research Group "Phenomenology and Hermeneutics"

The research group «Phenomenology and Hermeneutics» appeared on the basis of three groups: «Contemporary European Philosophy», «Phenomenology», and «Non-classical Philosophies, Structuralism and Post-structuralism». 

Main areas of research:

  • Hermeneutics, Daseinanalysis, Existentialism
  • Interdisciplinary investigations between Phenomenology, Sociology of Everyday Life, Psychopathology, and Philosophy of Literature, History of Phenomenology and phenomenology’s theory and practice
  • Hermeneutics of the Subject, Deconstruction, Poststructuralism

Ongoing Projects of the Research Group:

  • Student workshops (discussing course work, diploma and thesis projects on relevant topics) in the form of scientific debate along with the analytical reading of philosophic papers and articles (research project)
  • Regular Seminar under Georgy Chernavin’s supervision «New Phenomenology in France: Jean-Luc Marion vs. Marc Richir». Intercollegiate phenomenological seminar (since 2014) with a participation of HSE University, RSUH, MSU, St Petersburg State University, RANEPA). In the year 2019/2020 the main topic of the seminar was «Fear and Anxiety» (Husserl, Kierkegaard, Heidegger, Wittgenstein). The seminar involves technical support as mailing, recording discussions, reports and preparing transcripts. 
  • (service project) Internship program in the editorial office of Horizon. Studies in Phenomenology (SPb)
  • Summer School (France, Germany, Russia) for phenomenological philosophy (HSE 2021) with the participation of Toulouse University and Wuppertal University (service project)
  • The Conference organized by Eastern Europe Phenomenological Society (2022, St Petersburg State University, HSE) (service project)
  • Workshops with invited Russian and international researchers (service project)
  • Translation workshop on related topics (philosophical translation practice, researching)Workshop for discussing current publications and news on related topics (research project)
